Founder and CEO of Bump Club and Beyond
How did the idea for your business come about?
I wanted to meet other pregnant women when I was expecting for the first time. This stage of life can be very isolating, and it is so much better when you have friends going through it with you! Instead of just connecting with women through other friends, I decided to host a few events for moms-to-be. We did a shopping event and a workout, and just by word of mouth (this was before Facebook business pages) the events filled up. From there we went on to host expectant mom dinners and eventually new mom brunches. We are now hosting events in 25+ cities around the country!
What motivates you?
I don't want any mom or expectant mom to go through the process alone. I want all women to feel supported and know that there is a community out there waiting to embrace and support them. Connecting moms and moms-to-be (and their families) with the best information, products, resources and each other is our number one mission and one we have never wavered on.
What is your super power?
My ability to multitask! I can be getting my hair done for a TV segment, writing a proposal and talking to someone next to me all at the same time. I just know how to get sh#t done and make it work!
Who is your supporting cast of characters that help you to be so darn crush worthy?
I couldn't do this without the support of my family. First and foremost, my husband; we both travel for work and he has been amazing at keeping things together when I am gone. I also want to give a shout-out to my mom, who has helped with everything from stuffing gift bags to helping take care of the girls. My girls are amazing too. They are starting to understand that mom needs to help other women "how to be good mommies too," and I will forever be grateful to them for sharing me in this way. Finally, major shout-out to the BCB team. We have an incredible team at BCB and they all play an integral role in our company.
What do you consider to be your theme or "pump-up" song?
It's My Life, Livin' On a Prayer, Saturday Night.
What is the most difficult part about being an entrepreneur?
It's hard to turn it off. There is always something to get done and never enough time in the day to do it all.
Who do you have a crush on?
Jon Bon Jovi of course! I've seen him 33 times in concert and my water broke two days before I was supposed to see him for the 34th time. I had to give up my tickets :(
